Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.

Formerly known as The Golf Club of Seguin, the course dates back to the 1960s and features wide fairways lined with ash, oak, pecan, cottonwood, and mesquite trees, as well as large greens. Four lakes and a creek spot the rolling terrain, which is primarily noted for its long par 3s. The toughest par 3, No. 11, goes 250 yards with water guarding the left side of the green. And while No. 15 is fairly long at 178 yards, it has been taken for numerous holes-in-one over the years.

On the front, holes 5 and 6 require attention. The first is highlighted by a large lake, and No. 6 bends 450 yards uphill. On the back, the most difficult is No. 18, which plays almost 600 yards and features water on two occasions.

Getting there : In town turn right onto Hwy. 725, then continue on for another 4 miles and look for signs leading to the clubhouse.

Needs attention

Greens were in very good shape and you can tell they take care of them only, fairways are really bad shape. This is a great course to go practice on but not challenging. Staff was friendly.

Chreap local course

Had a super deal on afternoon tee time. I had never played here. I'm a beginner so this course was right for me. Not crowded. Open fairways, a few sandtraps, and even water to avoid. Had a great time. I wouldn't pay full price but at a discount it's a good value.

Greens are in nice shape.

Its been a hot fairly dry summer, but the greens have been kept up well and are putting true. Ponds are nearly empty, fairways are dry but being watered. Its a fine course in the $20 to $25 price range.

Course in need of work

Fairways are not good at all. Actually cannot see a defined fairway in many cases. Only a trailer for clubhouse. Bathrooms on course are in poor shape and have no soap. Ball washing stations had no water. Only water fountain on golf course is broken and leaks out to floor. In desperate need of work.

First time play...Very acceptable course

This was my first time playing the course and found it rather enjoyable and relaxed. Finding the entrance & parking lot was a little dicey...but all eventually worked out. A sign pointing to which building the pro-shop is in would be helpful to us first timers. The course was generally maintained with spreadout fairways, and very acceptable greens. Had great time, other than the freakin' heat!! :)

Staff is great.

Unfortunately they were sanding the greens and only the back nine was open. I wish I would of known this prior to paying for my tee time.

Great value for the money!

Really nice layout and some long tough holes. Especially a few par 3s. Love the openess of the course. An errant tee shot still leaves you a second wth no penalty in most cases. There are a few fairways full of clover need to be seeded. The greens need to be more consistent. Most are slow. Some are really slow. Patches of long grass on greens. A must play though. We will be back.

I like the length of this course. Par 4s are LONG!!

For the price, this is a very nice course. With a little more attention, this will be an excellent course.

Can't wait to play there again...

There are a few places in which the roughs have really tall grass and I spent a good while searching for my ball more than once but I guess it's my own fault for not keeping it on the fairway.... Great course and great pace of play I'll definitely take the time to drive from San Antonio to Seguin just to play there....

Gret condition and tough greens

This is the second time I have played here and now that everything is greening up, it was a real pleasure to play. The fairways are deceptively wide, but still a lot of room for trouble if you do not pick your clubs correctly. A lot of "driver" holes that require less than a driver to be accurate. Greens are small, hard and fast, hard to get any of them to hold, even a super high lob wedge wouldn't hold, and the pin placements were definitely set up for a Sunday finish on this trip. Had a great time and really enjoy this course, just wish I lived closer, 45-50 minute drive is quite long after a 4 hour round.

Keep up the good work. I noticed the watering and mowing. The course has great potential Thor improvement. Yes I would play it again.

Not a great choice

Sad to see a great lay out of a course to be going to waste. Tee boxes were in the worst shape but the course overall is needing a lot of attention. Greens overall were bare-able.

Worst course I ever played.

The course was so hard to find gps lost signal the phone number at the course was busy, had to call golf now for directions there. I walk and the is a couple in front of me. He was nice to them, but when I give him my Id he is nice and then i show him my reservation and his attitude changed quickly. The phone that I tried calling rang. I was still conducting buisness with him. Was asking bout range balls said I couldn't without buying them from him. I was like ok sell me some he became very aggrevated with me when he had to put those people on hold. Then he told me to tee off in 9 mins. I tried explaining to him how I couldn't find the place, he said "look I'm on the phone I don't want to hearhear it." Range only has 150yd. marker and a 250yd marker and no in between. All the ball washers were dry. The ball placements on the green were in slants, dang near impossible to get in the hole. The pro shop, had 1 set of clubs to sell, and no variety of brands of balls to sell. Proshop guy is hardly there. This has no oppinios in it, just facts...

Course had a good layout.

I got a great deal on the price. It was the first time a played the course. It needed some attention to fallen branches off of the fairways and it seemed as though they over watered a bit. There was a lot of casual water on the back nine due to overwatering, but I understand due to the drought down here, they need to maintain the grass on the course. Other than that I enjoyed my round.

What happened?

I wasted over an hour of drive time each way coming to this course. The greens are dead! They have tried to water them so your shots will stick. They usually do in mud. You can't water DEAD! Putts just went any direction. Only seeding is going to help these greens. The bunkers had more grass in them than the greens had on them. Some of the fairways had as much water on them as the ponds did. Either they have some bad leaks or the sprinklers were left on for a couple of days. This was not a good experience.

Great greens and wide fairways

Very nice golf course. Will play it again. Some of the grass was a little long on the sides of the fairways. But over all a very pleasant day of golf.
