About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
Formerly known as The Golf Club of Seguin, the course dates back to the 1960s and features wide fairways lined with ash, oak, pecan, cottonwood, and mesquite trees, as well as large greens. Four lakes and a creek spot the rolling terrain, which is primarily noted for its long par 3s. The toughest par 3, No. 11, goes 250 yards with water guarding the left side of the green. And while No. 15 is fairly long at 178 yards, it has been taken for numerous holes-in-one over the years.
On the front, holes 5 and 6 require attention. The first is highlighted by a large lake, and No. 6 bends 450 yards uphill. On the back, the most difficult is No. 18, which plays almost 600 yards and features water on two occasions.
Getting there : In town turn right onto Hwy. 725, then continue on for another 4 miles and look for signs leading to the clubhouse.

Decent course for the money
Played this course for the first time today. The staff was friendly and the course was in decent shape. greens were in okay shape for the start of spring. They need some work. Fairways are full of clover and in need of some work but they were playable. The course is laid out well but my main gripe would be the rough at the edge of the fairway. It is too tall. I lost 3 balls on the edge of the fairway and that never happens.
Overall I give it 4 stars due to the price. For 17 dollars you get 18 holes and a cart for a decent course.
Greens are true to the line you putt.
Lately, this course is in the best shape I have seen in the 3 years that I have played it.
Fields of clover
Horrible fairways. No grass anywhere, just out of control clover. The only saving grace for this place were the greens and they weren't that great either. Save your money and go play someplace else.
Chaparral
If you are looking for a five star this is not the place. Greens rolled fine, our foursome played in three & half hours.. I did play Starke Park the same morning, it was not that much better. I know the golf business is tough but do wish Chaparral's new owners would make a commitment to maintenance. In "daze gone by" this was a better facility. I did play Starke & Chaparral both for the price of one round at Landa Park...so Seguin has that going for it.
Sunday at the links with the wife
Great place to have an outstanding round of golf with family and friends... wife and I walk this course in the winter and indeed this a pleasurable round of golf. Green are always the best around! If the wind is coming from the North you will have some birdie chances...
Great course for your money and practice
I'm not sure why it has received so many bad reviews, I play this course almost every weekend. This course has been around since the early 60's so yes there is some age to be accounted for but for the price (around 20 bucks to ride on golfnow) you cant beat it. Use this course as your place for practice, although the fairways need some attention its still challenging and again, for the price, its definitely a place to go and swing a stick at that defiant little ball. For those who want to judge and leave bad reviews, do us all a favor, just skip this course and go play and practice elsewhere so I can continue to enjoy this game without you slowing me down.
Changes
I used to play this course frequently a decade ago. It was challenging, well kept but has changed dramatically. The club house is totally run down, so much they do not use it. The girl was friendly, the course is very dry but playable especially around the tee box and greens. It is very affordable and we still had fun. I was just so surprised how different it was, I've never seen that drastic change before.
Not the Best
This course is just like all the hot and dry courses in this area....wilted. The greens are in good shape, but everything else is dry. We like it because it is never crowded and it is reasonably priced.
Nice surprise
The course was fun and challenging. I recommend this course.
Last minute golf
Drove from San Antonio to play....greens were good but everything else was very dry...played late afternoon just to get a round in...
worst course possibly ever
Besides the fact that the clubhouse was a double wide hoopty next to a decaying log cabin, this was one of the most poorly maintained courses I have ever played. The fairways were burnt and made of a mixture of tumble weed and Velcro. If not burnt, completely flooded from what I can't believe was irrigation. At times it felt as if you were teeing off from someone's back porch. If I could play this course for free all year, I wouldn't play at all.
Course has deteriorated
Previously played this course over 2 yrs ago and sadly, this course has deteriorated since. My wife and I played on this day and it was worth what we paid but no more than that. It appeared as though golf greens were placed in the middle of a large pasture. Many tee boxes were in poor condition with many holes missing a permanent ladies tee box. Very little irrigation is apparent due to condition of fairways, although extremely dry weather is also a factor. Don't think we will be going back.
The course has great potential
The course is great for new golfers. Not too many hazards. Very reasonable in yardage.
THE PLACE HAS NO SIGNAGE and the directions given by the course were meant for people that live in Seguin. The directions were extremely poor from the Chapparral golf website. No phone# noted, so I could not call when I was lost. It had the most run down buildings I have ever seen at a golf course. It looks like it has gone bankrupt.
The person who greeted us was nice, but mentioned that the owner was the one who took down the signs.. Bad mistake!
In spite of this I would play it again for about $10-$15 with a cart. Has a lot of potential.
259 yard par three up a hill
I and my partner thought for the money, speed of play an the carts were great that we will probable go back.
Course needs a lot of work
Greens are in decent shape but that is about it. Got a good deal on golfnow so that made it worth it but the course is in terrible shape. Sort of like playing out in someone's pasture. Also needs a course Marshall to keep up the pace of play.
Dry Course, Good Value Though
Course was extremely dry, but at $15 with cart it's worth the trip to Seguin. Some holes were in worse shape than others but overall a good value for the weekend hack like me.
needs attention
greens were ok considering no rain, fairways are in dire need of attention. no water buckets on the course so be sure and take some with you. there is potential with this course. with starke park next door I would go there first.
Good value for beginners
Greens pretty good condition. Fairways have some bare spots. Course is pretty wide open making it forgiving. Is a pretty, lazy, little course with some elevated tee boxes and an elevated green giving it some desirable features.
Very poor conditions
Very poor conditions. course was dry and greens were not great. Nena was very friendly.
