Not bad for the price
My expectations were a lot higher after talking to some people but in the middle of fairways I was hitting off of dirt, and 3-4 greens were half dead. I'm hoping it's because the season is almost over and that's not meeting the standard of the course.
Trampoline Greens
The course layout is very nice, no argument there. I would love to come out and play more often, but the greens were almost unbearable. They would not hold a shot anything from a nine iron to 4 iron, making you have to land on the front of the green or before the fringe making a front pin almost impossible to be successful. However, few greens would hold a shot making your strategy of landing short void. We tried making a divot in the greens with out putter and even failed to do so there. If the price is above 25$ I would recommend a different course until they fix the greens. Won't be back this summer. Maybe next summer I'll give it a "shot."
Okay track with some issues
Most of course was good. There are some very dry very ugly spots including some tees where one is hard pressed to get a tee in the ground.... I do feel it's unacceptable to hit a fairway and have to hit from dirt, a hole without grass, or crab grass, on a 'good' course, so this course is so and so.... pace of play was acceptable, we waited on every shot but made it around in 4:15, bad but for a $28 place okay... I'll play again (but will suggest group lie improvement rules...)
Busy day
we played on a Tuesday at 10:30, it was a 5 hour round for twosome. Should have been done in less than 4 hours. The other 9's were open. It's a shame they don't better utilize all the courses.
Course was very disappointing
The title says it all, full of weeds on the tees and approaches. The greens were burned out, bumpy, slow and hard as a brick. Very unorganized, no starter at the first hole as we were told there would be. Supposedly, this used to be a good course, but if that is so, it has definitely fallen quite dramatically since then. Overall, just a disappointing experience.
WORSE NEW MANAGEMENT THAN PREVIOUS OWNERS
I scheduled a tee time yesterday at 2:28PM. I drove from downtown Dayton all the way out to the course. $30 dollars for 18 with a cart, not bad.
We arrive and get on to the tee box quickly. The staff wasn't friendly, but wasn't rude either. Once we get out on the course we start to notice it's condition.
The course looks green, but it's hard as a rock... There are large patches of rough that are completely dead throughout the entire course. Along with that, there are also a few fairways with large dead spots. The greens rolled smooth when you weren't putting through a mind field of ball marks.
THIS IS WHY I'M WRITING A REVIEW.
Once we make the turn, we get onto the 10th tee box and notice a 5some of guys in front of us... I'm playing as a 2some and expected them to let us play through. Once they were done shanking their balls in the general direction of the fairway, everyone of them looked back at us and then just drove off..
We figured they would let us play though next hole. So after a 20 minute first hole, one guy yells back and lets us know that we were on the TAIL END OF A 6some MENS LEAGUE........
We turned right around and went back to the club house. The staff was completely useless. I told them what happened and all they responded was "oh... well yeah, thats not going to work out now... there are two leagues that just went off and two high school matches." So all 4 nines were taken up.
I asked why they scheduled a tee time for 18 holes when they knew we would be making the turn into a 3 hour back nine. The employee just looked at me and said he "Doesn't know..".
They didn't offer us anything. We left and won't be going back.
TL;DR --- 50 mile trip, paid $30 to play 10 holes, because they booked us directly behind a 6some league...
Weatherwax was wet
Played afternoon round after a hard morning storm. Small branches and leaves sprinkled the course and standing water was seen in low places, but carts were still crossing at 90 *.
I was concerned about the tees getting chewed up because the markers were not getting moved around.
The fairways were wet but in very good shape. The moisture slowed the greens down.
Very good golf complex
Weatherwax golf complex always seems to be in transition as far as ownership.....still the course conditions are good....the courses are challenging....staff friendly.....out there in the country....one of the better public courses in Cincinnati
Really Great Course
This was my first time here and I was very impressed, Great lay-out and great fairways and greens. There were a few holes that need a little touch up but with all the crazy weather we have had it is to be expected. I loved the course and will be going back.
Not bad
The course was in good shape. There are some very pretty holes and great views on this course. The layout is nice and the fact that they have four 9-hole courses made the pace of play great.
The only complaint I have is that their greens were rock hard. There were several times our group would be hitting wedges into greens and the balls would hit and hop as high as the flag stick. Some greens were dried out and cracking which made putting unfair. That being said, I would still play here again and recommend it.
Fair shape
Greens are showing a lot of wear with ball marks prevalent. Cart paths are in need of repair. Overall the course needs attention.
Better Organisation
Course was in good condition considering how wet July has been. New owner seems to be on top of things although the "marshalls" could do with better guidance of how to hurry people along or something. Considering that this is a 36 hole venue, 9 holes shouldn't take close on to 3 hours
Great pace of play
Because there are two 18 hole coarse here you can almost always get around smoothly coarse is usually in great shape rough tends to be a bit long and hard to get out of greens and tee boxes are in good shape and fairways are excellent it definitely worth the drive
By far best deal in town
Played Sunday then again on Friday , course in very good condition ,nice layout with wide fairways ,plenty of sand ; some water. They are keeping their prices real , will play again next week .
Great Fun!!!
Hit it straight, this course has high weeds in the rough, you can hit out but it's tough, fairways and greens are in great shape, ball runs true on the greens , food was good! Lots of fun for the price
Great value
Greens and fairways were in excellent shape. Pace of play was good; staff very friendly. Great value.
Book at the course
Weatherwax is always a favorite. It was in good shape and the pace of play was outstanding. The strange thing was it was cheaper at the course then what I booked on golf now. They gave me the cheaper rate but I still had to pay the online golfnow fee. This will be the last time using golfnow.
In great shape
Fairways and greens in great shape, rough is shorter than last year. Paceof play was good.
