Longer and Farther is the Rule of New Mexico Golf
In the northern part of the state, Taos is more than a very cool, artsy community - it is also a hotbed for some of the state's best golf. Take your swings at the Taos Country Club, an 18-hole public course where greens fees - even on the weekend - don't top $65. Down south in Las Cruces, the University Course is a frequent host of NCAA Tournaments. Weekend fees don't top $30 and the course features good-size greens and generous fairways that are kind to most every level golfer. Wherever you go in New Mexico, you'll be able to combine two climate benefits when you smack the dimpled ball – the warmer air and the higher elevation.

You’ll be able to hit the ball about 10% farther than normal at most of New Mexico’s 60+ courses. So, if you’re not used to the higher elevation, take it easy at first – you might get more easily winded or tired with less oxygen, but it only takes a short time for most people to adjust. With any luck you may find yourself at the Twin Warriors Golf course, named one of Meetings & Conventions magazine’s Gold Tee winners for 2006.
