Native Son Dye' Indiana Golf Courses Are Tough to Beat
Golf course architect Pete Dye is an Indiana native, and his mark has been left on Indiana golf courses around the state. Crooked Stick golf course in Carmel, site of the 1991 PGA Championship, is one of Dye’s best known layouts but it’s private only. Try Indianapolis’ Brickyard Crossing golf course for another taste of Dye. Quail Crossing in the southwestern part of the state offers reasonably priced, challenging golf and in the northeast of Indiana, the Fort Wayne area offers a multitude of affordable golf locations.
As a new or beginning golfer, you may just want to find places to play, but as you start to improve and play at several different Indiana golf courses, you’ll find you like some architectural styles better than others. Dye, for example, is well known for more modern designs and difficult holes – great for a golfer looking for a real challenge, but maybe too much for the beginner.
