Chill Out with a Maine Golf Getaway
Maine natives are a unique breed - they like their chowda hot and their lobsters large. Surprisingly enough, they also like their golf to extend long into the cooler months. (What month isn't cool when you're that close to Canada!) A plethora of public courses run all throughout the Vacation State, highlighted by Point Sobego in Southern Maine and the groundbreaking Poland Spring Course where the water is as pure and refreshing as the golf. Fall ball in New England runs through Thanksgiving more often than not. To make your Maine Golf experience as enjoyable as possible you’ll need some special golf gear past the summer months.

When you schedule a Maine tee time in the fall, invest in a warm hat, such as a ski hat – no baseball caps. Also look for golfer’s cold weather gloves, which are sold in pairs for both hands (not just one!). These fabric gloves will keep your hands warmer than leather, but will ensure your grip is good. If you’re playing for fun, a hand warmer can keep hands and golf balls toasty, but if you’re keeping score, remember it’s against the rules to use any device to warm your ball. Also, remember the weather can change rapidly so it is worthwhile to check the weather on the morning of your tee time for a good indication of the conditions you can expect.
