One of best new courses in the country when it opened in 2004, ShadowGlen Golf Club is a gem of a daily fee golf course located just northeast of Austin in the growing town of Manor. The course, which was designed by the team of Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell, takes advantage of the beautiful, natural rolling terrain. There are numerous water features, including ponds and streams, strategic bunkering and large, undulating greens. The course, which plays 7,174 yards from the back tees, is certainly a championship test, regularly hosting tournaments and amateur qualifiers. There are five sets of tees, starting at 4,898 yards, so it's suitable for all levels of players. Considered one of the better values in the Austin area as well, ShadowGlen Golf Club has a terrific variety of holes. The course is a tale of two nines with the front nine a little more links-like and back nine featuring more elevation changes and tighter holes. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 565-yard par-5 16th, a dogleg left with a series of bunkers that cross the fairway. That's followed by.a short par 3 and sharp dogleg left par-4 to end the round. In addition to the course, ShadowGlen Golf Club offers a driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. Lessons as well as clinics are offered by the professional staff. The golf shop features a well-stocked golf shop. And inside the clubhouse is a bar and drill that offers snacks, sandwiches and craft beer.
