The Harvey Penick Golf Campus is a PGA TOUR-designed 112-acre facility in East Austin. Conveniently located at 183 and 51st Street, HPGC is owned and operated by The First Tee of Greater Austin - a non-profit that teaches kids life skills and healthy choices through the game of golf. The facility is open to the public 364 days a year and serves as a primary classroom and source of funding for The First Tee programs.
The campus features a 9-hole par 30 golf course, an 18-hole footgolf course, and one of Austin’s most affordable public practice facilities equipped with a grass-only driving range, 3-hole short course and multiple practice greens. Despite its close proximity to downtown, UT Campus, and the airport, the course maintains a country feel - tucked in a heavily wooded area adjacent to Walnut Creek.
The campus is named after legendary golf instructor Harvey Penick - a World Golf Hall of Fame member, former head pro at Austin Country Club, former UT Golf Coach and co-author of the best-selling golf book of all time: the Little Red Book. Harvey was famous for his love of teaching golf and the inherent values of the game to all levels of players.
As soon as you step onto the campus, you’ll recognize and appreciate the natural beauty of this park-like environment as well as its role as a community resource for golfers, footgolfers and families alike. The course is located at 5501 Ed Bluestein Blvd at the East Communities YMCA.
