West Linton Golf Club
About
The West Linton Golf Club features a solid 18-hole moorland golf course that sits on the Slipperfield Moor over West Linton, a Scottish conservation village. The golf course offers magnificent vistas of Scotland's borderland countryside, with the Mendick Hill dominating the sites southwest. Several premier golfers have taken strokes on this grass, among them the British Open and Masters champion Sandy Lyle, an honorary member.
Tee off at the West Linton Golf Club on Medwyn, a par-4 that measures 307 yards. Unpack your long game on Lucky Dip, the 525-yard par-5 fourth hole. When you're ready to go Home, as the 18th hole is appropriately called, you'll have three strokes to go 230 yards. Have lunch at the West Linton Golf Club's good-looking clubhouse, which also offers a good look at several of the holes you've just played.

Wonderful views all around
Fairways and greens in very good condition for the time of year and the views alone are worth the visit.. Unfortunately no catering was available. The course is 2 miles from the village where catering is limited. The clubhouse was locked at 15.45 so apart from an oncourse toilet at the 12th, no toilet facility was available thereafter.
The COVID-19 rules are presumably responsible.
Great Course
What a lovely course. Excellent fairways, bunkers and greens. Enjoyable views around course. Pleasant variety of hole designs.
Beautiful course
Play here. 3-4 times and it’s a fantastic course, some really tough holes especially the last, I’d definitely put this on a must play list
Girls Day Out
Played in challenging conditions wind and rain but appreciated layout and good condition of course
Great inland course condition
I am a member at Dunbar and have played the wonderful Gullane 1 a couple of times in the last week and these courses are as good as it gets in Scotland in February.
I also know that inland golf in Scotland is pretty rough at this time of year, either, next to flooded, on mats and with greens like the mountains of the Moon.
West Linton is none of these latter and is in tremendous nick and has probably the best fairways just about anywhere I have ever played. The greens too are in very good condition though the pins were a wee bit awkward in places and we found them tough.
But it was a great day out on a super course, playing at our own pace. The pro shop, the bar and catering staff could not have been more accommodating. Get along there soon. Thoroughly recommended and at a very cost effective price.
Friendly fun and tough
From the moment we arrived it was a friendly club. The course was great if quite tough and long. My wife enjoy the course but found hitting 3 wood after 3 wood a little tough a points.
Facilities on the course were great and lovely green staff.
Good food after.
Course was in fantastic condition. Really nice day. Unfortunately slow play slightly ruined it.
Good course
Lovely course in great condition. Friendly members and staff. Only problem pace of play over 4 hours to get round takes the edge off a great day.
Excellent course
Well worth the trip today. Excellent value for money. Course is in great nick, some lovely holes to play and some great scenery in places. Would definitely come again. Nice friendly welcome and good burger & chips in the clubhouse afterwards - what more could you ask for ??!!
A Wee Gem
I simply love this course. Tucked away off the beaten track, its a total delight. The fairways are lush, the greens, beautifully maintained, are a challenge but thats what they should be! This course should be on the radar of anyone wanting to experience a wonderful day's golf
Beautiful setting
Not a long journey from Edinburgh and lovely views.
Good but fair test of golf and suitable for all levels.
Relatively quiet on Friday afternoon.
Overall experience very enjoyable.
Neil
Was disappointed that 10 of the greens where still on winter greens while the greens not in use looked in better conditions that the greens that where in use thankfully I only paid 12 pound the pro was very heipful and the food was good and value for money
Nice Scottish rural course with great views
Taking into account playing in winter after a very wet spelll the course was in not bad condition. The course has been expanded over years and as a result is a little up and down in layout as extra holes squeezed in. None the less had interesting parts and some spectacular scenery close to pentland hills. We were welcomed by various staff. Will come back to play in summer time.
A great course with a few good traps and features.
I have played this course before and found it very challenging. I had a great round with my friends James Patterson and Ian Hindley and despite the weather being a bit cold and the rain, which thankfully stayed away most of the time, we had a fantastic time and played well. The wind was a factor but not too much of a challenge.
I would not hesitate to recommend this course to anyone who wants a little bit of a challenge. My round was 101 total and less my handicap of 26, my final total was 75 for the round.
Nice course
Course was good and in the greens were running nicely.
Grate little track
Weather wasn't that grate but still enjoying it very much.
Easy walking, sporty layout.
Very warm welcome and friendly clubhouse. Layout contributed to a tit for tat match play game. Glad to have shook hands before we got to the 18th! Very enjoyable afternoon.
Top Notch course for peanuts
The night before there was about an inch or two of rain yet the course stood up great and was only puddled in a few spots. Greens were excellent for time of year. Staff and members were very friendly, letting our 2 ball play thru on 3 occasions. 18 holes at 1230 on a Saturday in 2 hours 45 mins was unbelievable!! I will definitely be back here soon...stunning!!!

Spectatcular
I am a member of Borders Golf Club. West Linton is an excellent course and will test your game. Very picturesque with well laid out holes. The 17th and 18th finishing holes both Par 3s could be card wreckers.
Once you have played the Bar facilities are excellent with pleasant and helpful staff.
If you play on a Friday the Battered Fish is to kill for.
An excellent and enjoyable round
