Holes 18
Type Semi-Private
Par 69
Length 6161 yards
Slope 123
Rating 70.1

The West Linton Golf Club features a solid 18-hole moorland golf course that sits on the Slipperfield Moor over West Linton, a Scottish conservation village. The golf course offers magnificent vistas of Scotland's borderland countryside, with the Mendick Hill dominating the sites southwest. Several premier golfers have taken strokes on this grass, among them the British Open and Masters champion Sandy Lyle, an honorary member.

Tee off at the West Linton Golf Club on Medwyn, a par-4 that measures 307 yards. Unpack your long game on Lucky Dip, the 525-yard par-5 fourth hole. When you're ready to go Home, as the 18th hole is appropriately called, you'll have three strokes to go 230 yards. Have lunch at the West Linton Golf Club's good-looking clubhouse, which also offers a good look at several of the holes you've just played.

West Linton

Played course for the umpteenth time and as usual it was in great condition especially for the time of year. This Golf course very rarely puts on winter greens. Paid £20 for round which is great value for your money.

Winter treasure

After a period of wet weather when my own club was closed due to water, we found West Linton to be in excellent well drained condition. The fairways were perfect
with no mats and full greens in play.
Hole number 2 was closed but a replacement par 3 was in play between 13 and 14..
Nice clubhouse for lunch and friendly pro shop.
Will be pleased to return soon.

Well worth a revisit

The course was well presented with some challenging holes, especially the 220yd par 3 18th. Shop staff were really friendly as were the members that we met. Have recommended to Friends to visit.

West Linton

Lovely course. Fairways were in good condition which given the amount of rain in the days previously was surprising. Greens also in good condition. Scenery is stunning. Overall a good experience.

Course is outstanding

For November the condition of this place is unreal. Struggle Struggle find better greens than West linton.
Only issue was we arrived early for food before we played to be told kitchen was closed. My mate zack nearly died with starvation the poor lad.

Great course

This is a really enjoyable course. A decent test but not too difficult.. The layout is great with some beautiful holes although the greens had been scarified and sanded which I wasn't aware of before booking and was a bit disappointing (seemed a bit early in the year for it) Will definitely come back to play during summer.

Great course, pro shop staff horrendous

Amazing course, let down by the pace of play, 4 hours..... Also, by the pro working in the pro shop. He was rude, abrupt, presumably because we were visitors. Due to him alone, I would not return

Great course with a varied layout.

Well presented course, not too long but a good challenge all the same. Greens were medium speed but ran true, bunkers were excellent (unfortunately I tried out a few). Excellent value, a tough wee test on a windy day.

Beautiful heathland course

A few standout holes, reminiscent of Kings at Gleneagles. A brutal finishing hole into the wind. Firm greens, a bit bare in places but it's early season and they'll grow in. Other than that, can't be faulted and even the greens are probably down to masl. Friendly members and staff made us welcome. Big terrace overlooking first tee ideal for summer drinks. Will be back.

Perfect weather
Walked

Interesting course with some engaging challenges

Interesting course with lovely views and some engaging holes. I suspect that the course was originally nine holes and it has been expanded from the original layout. This means that some of the holes are relatively featureless, but there are plenty of challenges on the original holes, with rough and out of bounds areas adding to the difficulty. The final hole, a 200+ yard par 3, is a pearler.
On the nit-picking side, there could be more "Next tee" signs and the odd fairway marker for blind approaches would not go amiss either.

Worthwhile checking visitors handicaps/ability of play.

Worthwhile checking visitors handicaps ability of play and whether they can apply golf etiquette. Nomad golfers don’t appear to respect golf attire, etiquette or rules. Neither are they attentive to when they hit the ball in the wake of others. A players ball behind me struck me harshly in the back causing bruising. I’m only glad it was my back and not my head!!

Fun course

Wide open course in great condition. Not the hardest or tightest course but some long par 4s in cold and windy conditions were difficult. Nice location. Couldn’t rate clubhouse as it was closed due to virus lock down. Pro shop helpful.
