No fairways
Its like looking for a ball in my back yard. Some greens were so wet that they were almost unplayable . ( Standing water ) ( and its been 90+ & dry here in NE ). Drove an hour for this? Not again.....
Getting Better
Doing a nice job bringing the greens back , overall coarse is much better than last year and is heading in the right direction .
Very Scenic Course
The course provides a scenic view and was a good experience. It could use a little tlc in places but was enjoyable.
Needs some tlc
Great course. Very hot day. Water stations would be nice. Most greens good condition some need attention. Cart path less than desirable.
Monroe goose preserve
The thing that bugs me about this course is every time you go it's a different price no matter if it's a weekend or weekday. Then when you try to go out for some early spring golf they charge you full price to golf on greens that are burned out, spotty, and hairy. Oh and it is the same price to walk or ride. Who does that? I've been playing this course for five years and would give it 3-4 stars when I started playing it, now I'm closer to 1-2 star. They are going downhill. There is also goose droppings EVERYWHERE. Don't wear your new golf spikes. Disappointed with this place.
Winter golf
Good enough to get out and hit the ball. Oviously it's February so the course isn't in the best condition but for February it was good
Terrible confition
Let's just say I'm glad I only paid $14 to play. Can honestly say it was the worse conditioned course I have ever played. Very disappointing as I like the layout but you could not have seen worse conditions.
Great value
Great value for money - were watering tees and greens - course needs more play (money) for them to improve course conditions - excellent layout and real nice pro shop - staff very freindly
Bug spray
Make sure you bring 2 cans of bug spray 1 for the front and 1 for the back. You cannot even address a ball without being hounded by what i refer to them as NATS. Also bring a small hammer to insert your tee into the grounds at the tee box. Could use a upgrade in the sand traps with some consistency. Enjoyed the staffs courtesy. Paired up with a father and son and was very pleasant people to converse and play with.
Course is open and fairways in good shape. the rough is the rough good luck in finding your ball in some of the fesque.
No beer or liquor at the 19th hole.
Nice course for the money
Fairways were in good shape. Greens fair shape. Sand traps not in good condition
Over all fair to good course for the low cost
A Fun Day!!!
The dog days of summer are challenging days for grounds keepers. The fairways were in rough shape, as you would expect. It hasn't rained much in two months. However, the greens were in the best shape I have ever seen them. The course still was fun and fair to play, despite some of the dry local conditions. The staff here is always very cordial. This course still remains one of my local favorites.
Tough to score, good shape
Usually not busy, most holes play tougher than they look like Honey Run. Usually good conditions, little drive off the Lickdale exit. Prefer Mountain Valley up 81 to this and Manada, personally. Good place to hold tournaments.
poor conditions-too many geese
This was the 2nd time at this course this year. We got there early since there were no tee times booked 45 minutes prior to ours. We were told we had to wait till our tee time to go out. The course itself seemed to be neglected. Alot of the greens were either damaged or had that much geese droppings on them you had to watch where you putted or walked. And some of it was there for quite a few days! The fairways had many potholes and could use a better mowing. This course used to be one of the better courses in the county, but not anymore. Even at $12- it wasn't a bargain
good challenge for any golfer
senior or advanced, the tees will accomodate, and make a challengiing round. Some what open, but most greens are protected by traps, and require good iron shots.
Beautiful setting
Glad to see Monroe Valley is recovering after neglect. Last year conditions were very lacking, but it seems the management has decided to commit to re-establishing the course. I like the new areas of tall grass that are less forgiving than having everything mowed tightly. Makes this long course even more of a test.
No marshall on Sat. after noon but needed one.
Greens were good but tee boxes and fairways need work. Very slow front nine due to slow threesome. Need a marshal on weekends at all courses. Back nine has more character then front and in better condition. Hopefully they are working on this. Club house needs to be upgraded.
Good Overall course
This course plays great, but it seemed very wet and muddy today. Some of the greens were ripped, but overall, it was good.
Great View, Great Value, Great time!!!
This is the second time I played MV. I played yesterday because my wife and kids were doing a Hersheypark afternoon and it's only a 30 minute drive from there.
Things got off on a good foot do to James, the person working the shop. I couldn't print my GolfNow receipt because our printer was on the fritz and I have a dumb phone that won't show it----yet he assured me that it wouldn't be an issue.
To say that James went above and beyond the call of duty is an understatement. Even though I arrived 30 minutes early, he seemed to know who I was upon arrival and had my card waiting for me and took care of water by filling my cooler bottle with ice and water. If there was a blemish on this report card, there was no water OUT on the course. James made sure, however, that I had plenty going out.
MV is a very OPEN course with little in the way of shade. Yet despite there were only about 6 parallel fairways so you never felt like you were dodging balls from adjacent holes.
The greens were well groomed, but VERY slow. The tee boxes were adequately mowed so you didn't need 3" tees.
The course is not all that imaginative, but the views of the surrounding mountains still make for some great photo ops.It has more than adequate length so even the longer hitter will use every club in the bag. The long grass stretches offer plenty of challenge.
For the $$$, this is CLEARLY one of the best golf values in the area. James, keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Value for the money
The course seemed in a lot better condition from last year. They really cleaned up the place. The greens & bunkers need a little work, but overall the course was in good condition. Was well worth the money paid.
