Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club, minutes north of Barrie on Horseshoe Valley Road, was opened in 2004. The course occupies land that is primary rolling farmland and was originally part of a Huron settlement. At its highest point the vistas are extraordinary as golfers are treated to views of the Niagara Escarpment, Collingwood and Georgian Bay to the west, and Copeland Forest to the north.
"The Ghost" is an 18-hole regulation length golf course with the back tees measuring 6350 yards. It is well-bunkered, has bent grass tees, fairways and greens, and is a links style course with pockets of fescue grass in selected areas of the rough. The greens are challenging to read but they will reward approach shots to the right part of them. There are four tee decks to accommodate all levels of golfers. The forward tees allow juniors, seniors, and women to challenge many of the holes. The back tees require the low handicapper and golf professional to bring their ‘A’ game especially when the prevailing winds pick up. The course was chosen to host the CN Canadian Women’s Tour in 2006 and 2007 and was rated by visiting pros as one of the best on the tour in those years.
Settlers’ Ghost Golf Club’s mission statement is to passionately create and deliver a superior guest experience.
