A favorite among locals and a hidden gem for visitors to the Las Vegas area, Boulder City Golf Course is a solid municipal play that will please golfers of every level. Opened in 1973, the course was designed by David Rainville and Billy Casper. Located about a half an hour from the Las Vegas Strip and near the famous Hoover Dam, the par-72 course plays 6,066 yards from the back tees. There are two other sets of tees, starting at 5,453 yards, on this layout that is nestled between three mountain ranges. The traditional parkland layout has a nice variety of holes with some tree-lined fairways, water features on seven holes, bunkers around the greens and on the fairways, and beautifully sculpted, multi-tiered greens. The longest hole is the 559-yard, par-5 fifth, which is followed by the course's no. 1 handicap hole. The 416-yard par-4 sixth features a lake off the right side of the fairway and two bunkers on the left, which can come into play on the tee shot. The course also has a very interesting finishing stretch that includes a good risk-reward par-4, picturesque par 3 and par-4 finishing hole with a well-protected green. Boulder City Golf Course also has excellent practice facilities that include a driving range, chipping green and practice putting green. The facility also has a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse, where you will find a well-stocked golf shop as well as banquet facilities for special events, and a bar and grill that's open every day.
