Ocean Resorts Golf Club is a living laboratory for turfgrass students of Wor-Wic Community College. The beneficiaries, of course, are the students, but they're not the only ones. Local golfers and anyone else who ventures the Ocean City area can take advantage of this beautiful golf course that's both enjoyable and challenging. The course, which originally opened in 2001 actually closed in 2007, but the original owners donated the course to the college, and the rest is history. Today, the course serves golfers of all abilities, with tees that range from 4,800 yards to around 6,500 yards. The course is surrounded by magnificent hardwoods, which provide a spectacular backdrop in the fall. There is water on a few holes as well as strategically placed bunkers. The no. 1 handicap hole is actually a short par-5, the fifth, which plays under 500 yards from the tips. But with water looming off the tee and a series of bunkers in the fairway on this dogleg left, players must hit precise shots for success. Water can also come into play on the three-hole finishing stretch, including the difficult 18th, a straightaway par 4 that plays just under 400 yards. Ocean Resorts Golf Club also has a driving range, short-game area and putting green. There's a golf shop in the clubhouse as well as the Patio Cafe, which serves breakfast sandwiches and bagels as well as hot dogs, sandwiches and draft beer until 4 p.m. While the course is open to the public, limited memberships are also available.
