Castle Barna Golf Club

Offaly, County Offaly | 18 holes | Parkland | Par: 71 | 5816 yards

Located along the banks of the Grand Canal, Castle Barna Golf Club resides on some of the country's most scenic countryside. The course sprawls across the rolling terrain of the Irish midlands, dotted with mature trees that are hundreds of years old. These trees are strategically positioned throughout the golf course, especially along the well manicured fairways. The course boasts the same immaculate conditions on the greens, which is why the reputation of Castle Barna G.C. has expanded beyond locals to visiting tourists as well. Water comes into play on seven holes in the form of meandering streams and a number of small lakes. The most dramatic water features though, are provided by the Grand Canal itself. The tricky par-3 ninth hole plays right next to it. Bunkers were strategically added to complement the natural challenges provided by the water and the trees. This fairly difficult golf course does require accuracy, but it is still gentle enough for beginners to test their skills.
