Bray Golf Club

Bray, County Wicklow | 18 holes | Parkland | Par: 71 | 5990 yards

Situated between Bray Head and Sugar Loaf Mountain, Bray Golf Club boasts unrivaled views of Killiney Bay and the Wicklow Mountains. The course dates back to 1897, its construction coincided with a major boom in gold development in the late 19th century. Its original location was in Ravenswell before moving to its current location in 2003. Despite the move, many of the course's classic features were maintained when Des Smyth and Declan Brannigan were redesigning the course. The golf course is a perfect example of a modern layout that incorporates traditional design values. The fairways were designed with a tiered effect, largely negating the slope of the landscape. As a result, many of the holes are relatively flat, but that does not take away from the challenges of the course. There are numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout and several tricky doglegs to keep you busy. The sand-based greens maintain their excellent putting surfaces throughout the year. Bray Golf Club some interesting par 5's but it is the two strong finishing holes that will really impress.
