Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the scenic Emerald is one of three golf courses at Wailea Golf Club and considered to be the most women-friendly of the bunch with few forced carries, various teeing grounds and generous fairways.

Wailea - Emerald #16 & #10

One of three championship golf courses at Wailea Golf Club on the south side of Maui, the Emerald is one of two at the club designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. This is a bolder and more modern test compared to next door Old Blue, though it is more playable than the Gold Course. The Emerald was one of the first golf courses in Hawaii to be rated women-friendly by Golf for Women Magazine, an honor the course has won seven times. Playing under 6,900 yards from the championship tees, there are fewer forced carries on the Emerald as well as wider, kinder fairways. The course is also home to a double-green, shared by No. 10 and 17 and bordered by a 2.7 million gallon lake, one of the club's most scenic spots.

Just played this course a few days ago. We had two foursomes and the staff and service were very good. My wife and I had brought both of our clubs in a single bag and the course was kind enough to loan us a second bag (for free!) to use during the round - I had expected to be charged for at least one rental set, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Practice areas were fine, though I expected for the price to be able to hit off the the grass and not from mats.

The course is very well maintained; the bunkers in particular were in really great shape. The course is, as should be expected, really breathtaking in terms of natural beauty.

The major drawback is that this is not a very hard course. I'm not a great golfer, and I don't play often, yet I scored very well. And didn't lose a single ball all round. You've got to really shank a drive to lose one, and the course is pretty wide open.

Definitely recommended, but excellent golfers may want more challenge.

We still talk about this golf course and even have a video of of our foursome having 3 out of 4 making par on a par 3. What a wonderful course along the coast of Maui. Deb and myself would rate this course as number one that we have ever played. Well, it was our honeymoon.

A course that is a great example of Hawaii golf. Great views, a playable course but one that can also be a real challenge to score low.

The Emerald is my favorite resort course on Maui. Wonderful views on most holes and in very good condition. Excellent service by staff and a nice practice area to warm up. The view from the 11th green is one of the best on Maui. The course layout is very interesting and a good mixture of short and long holes. It is an interesting course for most players and a very fair layout.
