One of two championship courses open to resort guests and the public at Chateau Elan Resort, the Woodlands Course is beautiful challenging layout with lots of memorable holes. The Woodlands is course is actually one of four courses at the resort, which also has the private Legends Course, a wonderful par-3 executive course, and the Chateau Course. Both the Woodlands and Chateau courses were designed by Denis Griffiths. But the Woodlands Course, which opened in 1996, is tighter than the Chateu Course, and it has more elevation change. The Woodlands Course, as its name implies, also has more tree-lined holes, and there are several lakes and ponds that come into play, requiring golfers to play with a lot of precision to have success. The Woodlands layout also has bentgrass greens, so guests and members can enjoy two different putting surfaces since the Chateau Course is Bermuda. The course has four sets of tees and plays 6,735 yards from the back set. One of the most intriguing holes is the par-5 eighth. This heavily tree-lined hole, which plays 536 yards from the back tees, opens up to a lake where the approach is all carry over water to the green. It's a great risk-reward hole. In addition to the golf courses, Chateau Elan has great practice facilities, which include an driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. The Woodlands Course has a elegant clubhouse, and a terrific golf shop with all the latest in apparel, accessories, and equipment. The clubhouse restaurant, Sarazen's Bar & Grill, is open every day before or after golf.
