Legacy Golf Links, a par-58 executive course in Smyrna, Georgia, is a popular tee-time option for Atlanta Metro golfers looking for an alternative to full-length layouts. Located less than three miles from Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves, Legacy Golf Links is a favorite go-to spot for novices and families, for anyone looking for a quick round, or players hoping to hone their short game. Three-time major winner Larry Nelson and Jeff Brauer collaborated on the design of the links back in 1994. Their emphasis was all about making the game fun for players of all skill levels. Nelson and Brauer carved an attractive layout out of woodlands with no housing around to cause distractions. In addition to tree-lined fairways, another prominent feature of the playing field that consists of fourteen par 3s and four par 4s is its elevation changes. You ll find hills and plenty of mounds the golf grounds are anything but flat. The only water feature at Legacy Golf Links is a pond that comes into play on two holes (#3 and #10). The putting surfaces at the facility are undulating and surprisingly quick. A glance at the scorecard shows just three teeing options. Legacy Golf Links plays between 2,104 yards and 2,954 yards. Although there s very little difference between the white and red sets of tee markers, the shot values may be varied because the club shifts the teeing areas frequently. The first eight holes of the round are par 3s. With its carry over water, the 3rd hole, Legacy Golf Links s shortest test (73 yards from the red markers and 106 yards from the blacks), is the most exciting tee shot of the day. Holes 9, 10, and 11 are all par 4s, but along with the 14th hole (the only other par 4), they are all short. At 326 yards from the black markers, the 11th is the longest hole on the course. In addition to its eighteen-hole layout, Legacy Golf Links also boasts a spacious, all-natural grass driving range as well as a chipping area and a large putting green. While the facility has a pro shop, it lacks a restaurant. The shop often has hotdogs and simple snacks that you can enjoy on a patio that looks out on the range. The real charm of the executive-style Legacy Golf Links is its user-friendly, wonderfully treed layout that has delighted Metro Atlanta golfers since 1994.
