Cobblestone Golf Course, a daily fee facility owned by Cobb County, is one of the premier municipal courses in the country. This beauty by Ken Dye (no relation to Pete Dye) is as busy and popular a course as you ll find in the Atlanta area. Located on the south shore of Lake Acworth in Atlanta s northern suburbs, Cobblestone Golf Course began racking up honors and national attention as soon as it opened in 1993, and it has only improved since its full renovation in 2010. Dye carved playing corridors through thick woodlands on a peninsula of the lake. Though each nine at Cobblestone Golf Club features spectacular stretches right on the lake, most of the holes are tight with trees on both sides. There s a lot of movement in the ground here. Cobblestone Golf Course is quite hilly with frequent elevation changes. You ll also encounter a few severe doglegs. The undulating 2nd hole with its two levels of fairway is the hardest test of the round. No doubt the coolest holes at Cobblestone Golf Course are the lake holes. The 4th, 5th, 15th and 16th use the peninsula setting on Lake Acworth to maximum effect. Keep in mind this is not an easy test of golf. In addition to its narrow playing corridors, Cobblestone Golf Course also features thick rough and firm greens that don t take a lot of spin. How players handle the difficulty can impact pace of play. The course spaces tee times out in 10-minute intervals and strives for 4:20 rounds. Practice facilities include a driving green, chipping green and practice putting green. The expanded clubhouse offers a grill-style restaurant and bar with a few outdoor tables. There s a reason why a tee time at Cobblestone Golf Course is so coveted in the Atlanta Metro area you ll be in for a memorable experience from start to finish at this stunning layout on the banks of Lake Acworth.
