Built on a 150-year-old family farm, Callahan Golf Links is a beautiful golf course that preserves the natural beauty of its original setting. The course is mostly links-style with sweeping views from the first tee to the 18th green. Designed by D.J. DeVictor, and opened in 2007, the course has four sets of tees, playing from 4,669 yards to 6,678 yards. There are a few trees on the course, some large bunkers, a few water features and large, undulating greens. The course eases golfers in with a 495-yard par 5, a dogleg left that plays around a pond. The approach is over a creek, so it's no layup, but certainly an opportunity to start off with a good score. Four holes later is the no. 1 handicap hole, the 429-yard, par-4 fifth. Trees that line the fairway come into play big-time on this dogleg right that requires both accuracy and length. The no. 2 handicap hole, the 419-yard par-4 13th, is the opposite -- a dogleg left that plays through a narrow chute of trees before opening up in the fairway. Besides the golf course, Callahan Golf Links also has excellent practice facilities that include a grass range, short-game area, and practice putting green. Golf instruction is also available from the professional. A golf shop with the latest in apparel, accessories, and equipment is located in the clubhouse. And the Callahan Bar & Grill is open every day, serving a variety of sandwiches, appetizers, and beverages.
