Wellington National Golf Club
About
Located in the small community of Wellington, Wellington National Golf Club (previously known as Binks Forest Golf Club) offers a tranquil forest setting that is more reminiscent of a North Carolina course than a Florida course. After opening in 1990 to much acclaim, the course unfortunately suffered from poor management and closed for a period of time but successfully reopened in 2007 with a newly renovated 18-hole golf course.
The layout is tight and thanks to the abundant trees, very narrow at some spots. Mature pines line the narrow fairways and the greens roll fast and true. The course thoughtfully incorporates the terrain, utilizing the natural elevation changes and water features. The bunkers were strategically placed to make you really strategize your club selection and target. One of the most appealing aspects of the course is that it can truly accommodate all different skill levels with yardages ranging from 5,268 to 7,253.

Tight but fair
This is a very nice course. It's real pretty as it is surrounded by mature pine trees. All 18 holes play unique. From tee to greens, the course is very well maintained. It's received lots of TLC with the new ownership and it seems to be improving with time. Although it's in a residential community, it doesn't have the annoying hard doglegs that most of these type of courses tend to have. There's water at play in a few of the holes. I was lucky to have a real good friend that's a member invite me, and I'm hoping that I get invited again, because I would love to take this course on when my game is in better shape. The white/gold combo is pretty challenging and fair in length. The tips are truly for pro's as I noticed them to be way out in the back. Overall, 5 out of 5 stars.
What a good surprise
I played the course a few times when it was Binks Forest. Unfortunately, back then, the course was far from being well maintained.
Wellington National is way much better than Binks was. Greens are in perfect condition and changes to the course a nice.
Tranquil, Serene, and Challenging!
We love this golf course and it's expansive location. Set among beautiful trees with wide fairways and manicured greens, it is a gem. The layout of the course provides lots of challenge and diversification. Let's not forget the staff who are the best. Friendly, accommodating, and all around nice guys. What a wonderful mix: great course and great staff.
Greens were terrible
We played here before and remembered it as having lightning fast greens....not anymore! The greens were the worst we played on all year.
Okay for the money, not worth a drive
Course layout isn't bad, conditions were not great. Fairways were shaggy with weeds in many spots. Greens rolled okay, but were uneven and had quite a bit of damage. Bunkers also were not in great shape and apparently not too many of the previous players knew how to use a rake. They have a driving range, but again it is quite chewed up. Even though this is definitely not going to be mistaken for a resort course, all in all, playing offseason for $25 including cart made up for the very average or below average course conditions.
Needs improvements
Nice course layout but has been allowed to go downhill, new owners are making improvements but it's early days. Give it 6 months and will try again.
You get what you pay for
Played Binks while I was down in SoFL on vacation. I got a great price on GolfNow Hot Deals.
The course is not in good shape but the layout is actually pretty decent.
The tee boxes and fairways were scratchy and had significant weeds. The greens were not that bad and putted pretty decent - better than some other courses in the area. The driving range is horrendous and overgrown with weeds.
I know that SoFL has had a tough, wet winter that has hurt golf course conditions across the region. I think it has had an impact to this course but I think there is also a lack of resources at this course as well.
Marginal conditioning aside - I actually enjoyed the layout and had a fun time playing. There are a few pretty good holes. The course has "good bones". Unfortunately it needs some money put into it and it's a tough time for that....
If you can get a cheap price and understand what you are getting - give it a try. Otherwise, you might feel disappointed.
Great layout - very poor condition
I love the layout but the fairways and tee boxes are in terrible condition.
Great value
Once the club fixes some maintenance issues this will be an extremely challenging fun course to play. Its still fun despite being a little rough around the edges but the value is in the fees which cant be beat. Binks is always my first stop when visiting the Wellington area
Nice course to play.
First time playing there. Staff was friendly. We ended up playing as a twosome. Only took about 3 hours to play. Threesome in front of us moved along pretty quickly. Not5 a real difficult course but the fairways took a while to get used to. They were a little sandier then must courses. Had to move the ball back in your stance to ensure hitting the ball first. Otherwise, they were not forgiving. Nice vacation course to play. Had a good time there.
Clewiston
Nice corse,terrible pairing
DON'T BOTHER
Played here for the first time and was extremely disappointed. The course was in such bad shape I only played 9 holes. And when asked if I wanted a rain check for the other 9 I said no reason because the course is in that bad of shape. This course has decent lay out but needs a whole lot of work
Great Layout, driving range conditions.
I would not play Binks again, They need to sell it to someone that can put a little money into it.
Great layout but the tee boxes are beat up, the fairways have weeds and bare spots all over and the greens are slow.
If you ever watched Tin Cup and remember the driving range. Well that is Binks.
Great Value
Always enjoy playing Binks Forest. Lots of holes framed by trees on both sides, quite challenging but not overwhelming...and cost-wise, very reasonable to play year round.
Wow!! Thank you so much for the excellent review. We are thrilled that you always have a good time at our course! We agree that our course has a great layout...but that's biased isn't it. ;)
Be sure to visit us again soon and bring some friends! Please e-mail us at binksforestteetimes@outlook.com for a promo code towards your next foursome at Binks Forest! We'd love to have you back!
Ugh!
I played the course based on the last persons review in the hope that this place has actually been given the attention is so desperately needs; no such luck.
The course will never generate the revenue to keep up with the demands golfers expect, i.e, clean tee boxes, blush fairwairs, fluffy traps, mint greens, gps carts, nice practice areas and a 19th hole. If you're looking for that, this would nog be the place.
I paid $27.00 with was about $7 too much. If you're desparate to slap Ball around, maybe. The biggist disappointment was the mowed down weed bed for tee boxes. You would have to see it to believe it and i just cant discribe it but demanding your money back would not be unreasonable.
Pro shop basiclly empty, not cart girl.
Clearly, i will not be coming back. j live 5 minutes away.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course, MJP07. Although it is disheartening to read your feedback, we take all the comments of our reviewers into consideration. We are working towards improving our conditions every day, as as most other reviews state, we are improving. We apologize for your experience, and would appreciate a chance to meet your expectations another time.
Surprise
This course is much better than 4 months ago. There is some grass in the fairways, less weeds and the greens are in good condition. The tee boxes have grass on them and the traps have sand.
Thank you for the great review! We are glad that you're noticing our improvements. We've been working hard! We hope to see you back this summer. Feel free to e-mail us at binksforestteetimes@outlook.com for a coupon for our grille or pro shop!
just average
Average course needs to be weeded badly. Very confusing to get around course through houses and roads greens needed to be worked on dying in many places long course but pace of play was good in late afternoon. Good for beginner which i am holes are pretty much straight with no dog legs. Staff was awesome which made it a average but nice experience.
Thanks for the review Mark! Your voice is being heard and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the staff.
A bit of a ride, but worth it.
The course needs some work on the fairways to regain what appears to have been past glory. The greens rolled quick and true. It is a hike from W. Palm Beach but for the price worth playing. Bring your range finder. If there are yardage markers they are not apparent. The scorecard is a bit off as the second, third and fourth holes did not match.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review our golf course! We appreciate all of the comments left by our golfers, and take all criticism into consideration. We are so glad that you found us to be valuable, and worth the drive from W. Palm. We think we are too. :) As for the scorecard, we will be discussing as a staff to see if we can make any improvements. Please e-mail binksforestteetimes@outlook.com to receive $10 off any purchase of $20 or more in our pro-shop, or our grill, the 19th hole! Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.
Getting Better
Course Condition is getting better. Fairways and bunkers still need some TLC and Greeens are mostly in very good shape. Price is excellent and speed of play very good.
Thank you so much for the positive review!! We're so glad you see value in playing here, and are noticing our course improvements. We can't wait to see you back.
Doloresrusso,
Thank you for the 5 star rating! We are thrilled to hear that your experience exceeded your expectations. Hope to see you back on the course again soon!
Best,
