Designed by Tom Fazio, The Champions Club at Summerfield is one of the Florida Treasure Coast's best public golf experiences. Built in 1993, the course measures nearly 6,900 yards from the back tees. Although it winds through a subdivision, homes are set back to allow for the natural beauty of the wetlands and beautiful Atlantic Ridge Preserve State Park that borders the course. There are four sets of tees, starting at 4,977 yards so all levels of golfers can enjoy this terrific design by one of golf's premier architects. In true Fazio fashion, there are plenty of bunkers, 54 of them in the fairways and around the greens complexes, and they are usually pretty deep. There are some forced carries off the back tees, but the forward tees are set to avoid that trouble. The par-3 holes at The Champions Club at Summerfield are particularly strong with many of the tee shots playing over marshland. On the rest of the holes, golfers enjoy hitting into generous, rolling fairways. The large, well-maintained greens have plenty of undulation, but aren't overly difficult. The Champions Club also offers outstanding practice facilities that include a grass driving range and half-acre chipping and pitching area with practice bunkers as well as putting greens. Instruction, both in the full swing and short game, is also available. The clubhouse features a well-stocked golf shop as well as The Champions Club Bar & Grill, which serves breakfast sandwiches, appetizers, soups, salads, wraps, burgers, fish platters and beverages.
