Located just north of the St. Johns River and easily accessible from Jacksonville or St. Augustine, Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club offers an exceptional golf course. Designed by former PGA Tour player Mark McCumber, the course has no parallel holes, which means each hole is like a golf course unto itself. The course, which was once 27 holes, is down to an 18-hole championship test that measures nearly 6,800 yards from the back tees. There are four other sets of tees, starting at 4,984 yards, so it's playable by all levels of golfers. Water comes into play on 13 holes, and the greens are well protected by mounds and bunkers. The fairways are lined with mature pines, magnolias and Spanish moss-covered live oaks. The course features plenty of doglegs, including the par-5 eighth, which is the no. 1 handicap hole. The 566-yard hole is a dogleg left with a pond that comes into play on the left side of the approach shot to the green. Besides the golf course, Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club also offers an excellent tennis facility, plus golf practice facilities that include a driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as The Pub, which was reconstructed and expanded recently. The Pub, which is open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offers a daily happy hour and is open late on Fridays and Saturdays. The menu features full breakfasts, salads, sandwiches, and prime rib.
