Located less than three miles from historic downtown Delray Beach, Delray Beach Golf Club is a public gem that draws some of the best players in the world as well as amateur golfers of all abilities. Opened in 1926 as a nine-hole course with another nine being added in 1945, Delray Beach is a wonderful classic Donald Ross design that often attracts tour players who might be in South Florida for an event. Water comes into play on six holes on the course, which has classic greens and bunkers, and a reputation for being one of the best maintained courses in South Florida. The course is also very walkable, fairways are generous, and golfers are usually able to get around in close to four hours. Playing 6,907 yards from the tips, the course has four sets of tees, starting at a very manageable 4,307 yards for shorter hitters. With a wide variety of holes, it's a layout that will test every level of golfers. In addition to the course, Delray Beach Golf Club also offers practice facilities that include a full grass driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. Golf instruction is also available through the club's professional staff, who conduct individual lessons and clinics as well as junior programs. Inside the club's beautiful clubhouse, golfers can also take advantage of a well-stocked golf shop, and restaurant that offers a full lunch menu as well as beverages. The club also has facilities available for weddings or special events.
