With gorgeous sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, perfect temperatures pretty much year-round, and a history to back up its legacy, Port Royal Golf Club is a must-play on the bucket-list destination of Bermuda. The course -- which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and opened in 1970 -- is the annual site of the Bermuda Open as well as the former home of the PGA's Grand Slam of Golf. It underwent a terrific renovation in 2009 by architect Roger Rulewich. The work included the removal of a thousand trees, which opened the course up to even more ocean views. The course features plenty of doglegs, elevation change, and ocean views throughout. And wind, of course, is always a huge factor, where holes can play two more clubs longer or shorter depending on the direction. The par-4 15th tee sits next to the Whale Bay Battery, an old fort dating to the 1800s. But the signature hole is the 235-yard 16th, a difficult cliffside par-3 hole perched above the ocean. Any shot left will find the rocky surf below. Besides the golf course, Port Royal Golf Club also has a driving range, short-game area with practice bunker, and practice putting green. There's also a golf academy for anyone looking for a little help with their game. And inside the clubhouse, you'll find a golf shop with a wide assortment of logoed apparel and accessories. The clubhouse restaurant is also open every day, serving a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees.
