One of the best and most fun municipal golf courses experiences anywhere, Dobson Ranch is a friendly, innovative operation that's an integral part of the community. With a Top Tracer range, music in the background (and available on the golf carts via bluetooth) this isn't your grandpa's stuffy golf course. Dobson Ranch is about getting everyone involved, including growing the game, especially among juniors and veterans. As for the course, which used to be a working ranch (hence the name), it has undergone vast improvements over the past decade or so. Designed by Red Lawrence and Jeff Hardin, it first opened in 1974. Playing almost 6,700 yards from the back tees, the parkland layout has an abundance of mature hardwoods, lakes, streams and gentle greens complexes that give players lots of options to reach them. There are three sets of tees, starting around 5,600 yards. The no. 1 handicap hole is the par-4 eighth, a dogleg left that plays just over 400 yards. A creek runs down the left side and in front of the green. Besides the Top Tracer setup at the driving range, there's also an extensive short-game area and putting greens. The golf shop at Dobson Ranch is also exceptional and unique with an indoor putting green and the largest selection of new and used clubs of any course in Arizona. Apparel and gift selections appeal to a wide variety of customers, and the service is unparalleled. The restaurant at Dobson Ranch has a sports bar feel to it with pool tables, video games and menu that offers everything from tacos, sandwiches, chili con quest and chips to craft beer.
